Forces
One word stands out in my mind: Entropy. Entropy seeps into our lives here in ways only entropy can. It crumbles the concrete stairways climbing to the residential parts of the hills, it siphons the heat out of my room through the poorly insulated walls, it bores inexplicable holes in the ceiling of our eternally wet bathroom, it provides shelter for dozens of feral cats scavenging through...

Friday was wet. Wet air, wet earth, and very wet hair, as I made the rather poor decision to shower before I’d bought a towel. It had been raining since morning, and the sidewalks, more reminiscent of linoleum paneling than concrete slabs, were slick with water and pulverized cement. Living on top of an impressively steep hill does little to ameliorate the effect; descending the twisting...

Conanthrations
Jordan is a lot colder in the winter than one would expect for an area that’s mostly desert. They told us it would be. Didn’t believe it. Either way, I think it’s finally registered. The apartment is fairly open to the elements, the windows left ajar and the basement entrance unencumbered by such garish accoutrements as doors, so it was difficult to resist the quintessentially...

Back from the Beach
Just got back from the beach with my family, cousins, cousins’ friends and my friend. Twas awesome. Did a lot of swimming, rode waverunners (which are absolutely amazing, I highly recommend to anyone who hasn’t already given them a shot) and we found a small group of baby turtles hanging out near the bay and rescued them. Just. Like. That. Comes fully equipped with two sporty,...

Blood Donations
I gave blood today. I was almost ineligible because of my escapades in Egypt, but things are cool. Last time they missed my vein and stuck my muscle tissue, so bright red oxygenated blood was pulsing into the bag. I almost blacked out. Fun. This time, I was the last one there due to the agonizing process of locating the tiny Berber city of Siwa in the Red Cross’s database. Once it was...

GPOYW
Though I’d like to pass off my previous post as qualification for this event, I guess I need a real one. Right to left, cus this is Egypt muthafuckas: Ahmed Nageeb, Ahmed Sabry (a.k.a. awesome), me and Farahat Gomaa. Total BAMF’s all around.

Got m'ears lowered
It’s true. Weird thing is I actually like it. My mom usually tries to make me look like this I don’t know why, but it seems impossible for me to find a happy medium between an OC surfer bum and a 12-year-old at his First Communion. Also, and don’t tell anyone, but I think I have a receding hairline. Ew. So the WiFi I’ve been stealing went offline a few days ago, and it...

Ow ow ow ow ow
Beach. Hot. We play this game one of my friends dubbed “driftwood”. You basically submit yourself to the will of hundreds of gallons of salt water. It’s fun. But, well… let’s just say my skin has been thoroughly exfoliated. I feel all smooooooth.

I was listening to my favorite piece of classical music the other day in the car (watching the road is for queers) when I realized my favorite part of said piece wasn’t actually involved in this recording. It had nothing to do with it. It was in another piece. That’s right. My favorite part of Bolero is the refrain of The Planets: Jupiter. /end nerdrage. Peace.

Sara made me do it
So I was reminiscing with this Persian chick today, and she orders me to start my own blog simply because I have a bit of an issue with a certain picture of a certain beautiful woman. Ok, it’s the one of Zooey Deschanel. She’s excessively pretty, and Sara found the most unbecoming picture of her ever. This one is better: Sara doesn’t like this one because she looks...
